Small Blue Hand Valentine Rug is dark and mysterious and has a large dark red heart that holds a small blue hand. This motif is common in the folk art that inspires my work and I’ve made several rugs with hands in hearts over the years. The border is the buffalo plaid that I love, and it worked out so that there is an unexpected brighter edge in the midst of the darker border. The back binding is a light blue floral fabric. The mat measures 9” high by about 6” wide, will have a muslin sleeve and dowel for wall display, but is perfect for use around the house in a place where one might not expect to see a heart rug.
